ESKAS Scholars: Strengthening Switzerland’s Global Research Ties
ESKAS is more than a scholarship programme. It builds lasting relationships and trust, the foundations on which international cooperation depends. It connects our research to international networks that keep Switzerland dynamic, competitive and globally relevant. ESKAS alumni now work in ministries, universities, research institutions, international organisations and NGOs. They are part of a global network advancing science and cooperation.

Save the date: GRP Alliance Conference on Swiss Commodity Trading
Switzerland is home to major hubs in the global commodity trading sector. The trade of mineral and agricultural commodities is central to the global economy, particularly with regard to the organisation and functioning of global value chains. The sector is closely linked to geopolitical developments and has a significant impact on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. This conference will bring together academic evidence on these links and discuss their policy relevance. We look forward to welcoming participants from academia, administration, policy and the private sector from all over the world.

“We mustn’t shy away from doing science that’s political”
A CDE Spothlight interviews Anna-Katharina Hornidge, Director of the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS), and Sabin Bieri, Director of CDE. The “super election year” of 2024 swept autocrats into power and strengthened nationalist parties. The election of US President Donald Trump, in particular, is causing the pillars of the previous world order to collapse. What does this mean for the goals of sustainable development, and for sustainability science itself? And how do we get back out of this situation?
